Stereotactic body radiosurgery offers the possibility of treatment
for cancers as diverse as benign and malignant tumors of the brain
as well as cancers of the chest, abdomen and pelvis, including those
of the lung, mediastinum, lymph nodes, liver, pancreas, kidney,
gynecologic and urologic sites. Also treated are melanomas, sarcomas
and kidney cancers. The success rate, meaning the control of the
cancer in the treated site, is high. The durability of treatment
effectiveness in the treated field is usually for the remainder
of the patient’s life. Our specialty involves fractionated
stereotactic radiosurgery – meaning that the dose is divided
into several portions so as to make the technique safer and easier
to tolerate.
Separate seminars are open to the public for brain, body and prostate
cancer treatment. Brochures and videos are as well available. Dates
for the seminars are available by contacting us at 212-CHOICES or
E-mailing questions to Gil.Lederman@RSNY.org.
Films and records are reviewed at no charge by our expert panel
of physicians. You can contact us at
the above numbers or directly at Radiosurgery New York, Cabrini
Medical Center, 227 East 19th Street, New York, NY 10003.
